RF elements Introduces the New HG4 Series: Compact Horns with Maximum Performance

The redesigned 30° Symmetrical Horn and new 45° Asymmetrical Horn combine precise beam performance, excellent noise rejection, improved durability, and affordable network scalability.

Bratislava, Slovakia - 12 November 2025

RF elements today introduced the new HG4 Series, a compact range of high-performance Horn antennas designed for scalable 5 GHz fixed wireless networks.

The new series initially includes two models:

HG4-S30 - 30° Symmetrical Horn
HG4-A45 - 45° Asymmetrical Horn

Both antennas combine controlled radiation patterns, heavily suppressed side lobes, compact dimensions, improved mechanical durability, and the proven RF elements UBR mounting system.

The 30° and 45° beam patterns give WISPs highly practical tools for dividing traditional wide sectors into smaller, higher-capacity coverage areas. Operators can increase sector density, improve frequency reuse, and add capacity without installing conventional large-format sector antennas.

The Most Popular Beam Shapes.

There is no single antenna pattern suitable for every deployment. The HG4 Series provides two complementary coverage options. The 30° Symmetrical Horn delivers an equal beamwidth in azimuth and elevation, while the 45° Asymmetrical Horn provides wider horizontal coverage combined with a narrower elevation pattern.

Together, the two models allow WISPs to select the beam shape that best matches the network topology, subscriber distribution, tower height, and required sector capacity.

A traditional 90° coverage area can be divided into three 30° sectors using the HG4-S30, two 45° sectors using the HG4-A45, or a combination of both models.

This gives operators greater control over coverage and creates a practical path for adding capacity as subscriber demand grows.

“Network scalability does not always require expensive antennas or more complex infrastructure,” said Juraj Taptic, CEO of RF elements. “It requires better control of where the RF energy goes. The new HG4 Series gives WISPs compact and cost-effective tools for dividing wide, overloaded sectors, rejecting interference, and increasing network capacity using the radio platforms they already know.”

HG4-S30: 30° Symmetrical Horn

The HG4-S30 is the latest generation of the RF elements 30° Symmetrical Horn, one of the company’s most established sector antenna designs.

Its circular radiation pattern provides an equal 30° beamwidth in both azimuth and elevation. The predictable beam shape makes the antenna suitable for precise sector planning, high-density co-location, MicroPoP deployments, and coverage in areas with varying terrain or subscriber elevations.

The antenna provides 18 dBi gain and operates across the 5100–6775 MHz frequency range. Its gain and radiation pattern remain stable across the operating band.

The horn design naturally suppresses side lobes, focusing RF energy into one controlled main beam. The antenna therefore transmits and receives less unwanted energy outside the intended coverage area, helping improve signal-to-noise ratio, link stability, and frequency reuse.

The HG4-S30 is particularly suitable for dividing a traditional 90° sector into three independent 30° sectors. This allows WISPs to increase capacity and sector density gradually, based on actual network demand.

HG4-A45: 45° Asymmetrical Horn

The new HG4-A45 introduces the RF elements asymmetrical beam shape into the compact HG4 platform.

The antenna provides a 45° azimuth beamwidth and 30° elevation beamwidth, combining wider horizontal coverage with narrower vertical radiation. It offers 17 dBi gain and stable beam performance across the 5150–6400 MHz frequency range.

The asymmetrical pattern is useful where operators require wider coverage than the HG4-S30 can provide, while maintaining higher gain and more controlled elevation performance than conventional wide-sector antennas.

Two HG4-A45 antennas can replace one traditional 90° sector, creating two independent 45° coverage areas. This allows operators to divide subscriber load, increase channel reuse, and expand available sector capacity.

The antenna also features heavily attenuated side lobes, supporting excellent noise immunity and reliable operation in demanding RF environments.

Built for Network Scalability

The HG4 Series is designed around a simple principle: smaller, controlled sectors create more opportunities to reuse spectrum.

Traditional wide-sector antennas cover large areas but also collect interference from a wide angular range. As networks grow, one very wide sector can become a capacity bottleneck.

The 30° and 45° HG4 antennas allow operators to subdivide these coverage areas into narrower sectors. Each sector can serve fewer subscribers, use a separate radio or channel, and deliver greater capacity within the same overall service area.

Because the antennas are compact and lightweight, additional sectors can be installed without the tower loading, visual impact, and installation complexity associated with conventional panel antennas.

The HG4 Series can be used for new network construction or introduced gradually as existing wide sectors reach their capacity limits.

Improved Durability and Longevity

The new HG4 antennas introduce several mechanical improvements focused on long-term outdoor operation.

The antenna bodies use robust aluminium construction, while redesigned mounting components are manufactured from corrosion-resistant aluminium extrusion. Stainless-steel hardware features an anti-seize surface coating to reduce galling and simplify long-term maintenance.

An integrated handle helps installers position and adjust the antenna safely. The handle also includes an eyelet for carabiner attachment during tower installation. The cast aluminum antenna bodies have improved surface treatment to resist the environment.

These changes improve structural strength, corrosion resistance, handling, and expected service life while maintaining the compact HG4 form factor.

Proven UBR Mounting System

Both HG4 models use the proven RF elements UBR mounting system.

The pole bracket is installed separately before the antenna is placed into position. The installer then slides the antenna into the bracket, adjusts azimuth and elevation, and secures it using one tool.

The reversible bracket can be installed on either side of the antenna, providing additional flexibility in crowded tower environments.

The antennas are supplied pre-assembled and ready for installation.

TwistPort™ and N-Connector Options

Both HG4 models are available with two connection options.

The TwistPort™ versions use the RF elements' proprietary quick-locking waveguide connector. Compatible radios connect directly, while other radio platforms can be integrated through dedicated TwistPort™ Adaptors.

The TwistPort™ connection eliminates exposed coaxial cables between the radio and antenna and provides a simple twist-and-lock installation.

The connectorized versions are supplied with two factory-installed N-female connectors for radios and deployments using traditional coaxial interfaces.

This gives network operators the flexibility to use the HG4 Series across a wide range of radio platforms and installation preferences.
